Languages

First a note on languages and that is that every one; most not all; knows common, there is exception to the rule such as barbarians in the jungles of Lind and so on. It is considered a trade language and common is used buy all merchants, traders, guilds, companies etc. The next thing to know is that no one in the west nows Draconic. Speaking Draconic has more to it then just speaking a language, to the dragons in the realm it also deals with scent, gestures, eyes, and so one. Things that only a dragon can do and know. One of the reason for the change in this is because the dragons in my world were not created buy the gods or what ever they were created buy a poweful race and so there version of draconic is real different then other worlds. There is also no Sylvan tongue it has been replaced buy druidic secret language.

The history of language in the world of Glassrealm is vast and expansive; it can fell volumes of material whichI do not want to writ. But I will bring upon the languages that will be open to the players in the game.

1. Arcane - Arcane is the language of the wizards of many lands. The problem though is arcane has different meanings to different races and cultures. So many will have there own version of arcane, so a magician will; have to have read magic of that culture if he is not able to read there magical language. There is other spells that will be able to use to read magical script in the world. Arcane is the language to which wizards and other magicians use to inscribe spells in spellbooks, scrolls and grimoires, the laguage is spoken in there incantations which the magic is ask for a verbal component. Arcane replaces draconic for magic types as a magical language

2. High Arcane - High Arcane is said to be the language of the univerese itself, and it is said to have been used when the grande archetict made the universe. It is the very essence of creation. The language is both written and spoken, and when certain combination of words are said the magician can pull the very fabric of creation itself. The language of high arcane is also written in spellbooks an espicially grimoires. The magicans known to use true name magic use this language, spells like powerword kill, stun and so on, use this language in there spells.

3. Drack - drack is the language from a ancient now exteint race. The Drack was a ancient reptilian race with very high intelligence. Not to go further with it but this language can be found in most drack ruins, artifacts, and rare items of magic and power, etc. In the world of glassrealm they are the atlantians of this world. There race and culture controlled and spread all threw out the world. This is a important language to mages, psionicist, archeologist, scientist, historians who travel the world trying to find the ancient drack magic and maybe find a why for power or a way to fight the spread of chaos.

4. Celestial - Celestial is a new language to the realms, It was first discovered buy the wizard Dr John Dee, who learned it from the Angels he summoned. The language was founded two years ago and he wrote many books on its use of it and the language itself. It has spread threw out the world and many magicans and holy men/women have now been using it.

5. Alchemist script - Used mainly buy wizards, alchemist and transmuters it is  a secret language that is written in two forms either a decipher script or pictures that make up a meaning only to the alchemist and mages. The language can be script and or pictures. The founding of the language was wizards and alchemist from Ostland who many were persecuted magic users or others who wanted the secret of alchemy. The language was founded 150 years ago when the crack down on anything magic was starting to fully bloom. So a grouop of alchemist and mages came together to create a language that can be preserved and only people who knows the language can no what is written. This is a way to keep it from people who want to destroy, steal or persecute the people for there research, so this language came about. It is now all over he western world and used buy almost all the wizards, transmuters and alchemist.

6. Numara - Numara is the language created buy the Geometers. It is a language fully made of pure mathematics. it is a series of Arithmetic form ulas that make up the language and can be deciphered with a combination of the math skill and decipher script.

7. Thieves Cant - Thieves cant depends were the person is were he comes from and what thieves cant he learned. Each city, culture and or kingdom will have there own version of thieves cant. This is a coded language with gestures, coded talk, even in some caseseye blinking to body movement. Players who has the language must specify which city, group, or area they have learned thieves cant from. here is one exeption to the rule and that is the Black Dragon Cartel, since they control most of the crime in the west there version is used buy most as a default or because they use it as a way to contact cartel members.

8. Druidic - Druidic is a language that in some ways similiar to thieves cant. It is a secret language and only used buy the druids.

9. Bastet - The Bastet language is a language is a language that while is a spoken and written language it is also a emotional language which goes into touch, smells and gestures. While any one can take the language one cannot get the true meaning or understanding of sentences and advance wording in use with out being from this anthromorphic race. this language is spoken but the bastet and to a lesser form the catfolk.

10. Lupin - Same as Bastet but for Lupin the wolf race.

11. Elementus - The elementus language is used only buy the elementus and no one else unless they are elementus or a higher elemental race can learn it. When the elementus was freed from there Drack masters they had to learn all about themselves and the world ahead of them. They needed a common language that all of them can speak and no one else can learn. Elementus is it. Comprehend languages doesn't work for this language a mage type will have to create a specific spell to speak with the elementus if they want to understand what they are saying. It is a spoken not a written language. Luky for the elementus are immortal so they can speak many languages.

12. Kush  - Kush is the language of the primitive barbarians known as the kush.

13. Surial - Surial is a language only spoken buy the surials, no other person can evewr hope to speak it. it is not a written nor a spoken language it is a emotional, scent base language. They can communicate telepathically threw pictures and sends it to the person who they want to communicate with. The Surial can learn sign language to spek with the others who they want to xommunicate with.

14. Assassin cant - Assassins cant was developed buy the brotherhood of Surat 200 years ago now it is used buy most assassins today.

15. Semamorph - This is a language used buy waving flags in patterns to communicate fromone ship to another, Used mostly buy merchant and trade ships. Naval ships also use it to communicate with non military ships.

16. Naval Code -  naval code was first created buy the ancient elven navies (there is no great elven navies anymore) now used buy most navies or some kind of offspring of naval code. It is when a person uses a lantern or some other light source and makes a set of pulses (like mores code) to communicate with another naval ship.

17. Old Stygian - Old stygian is known buy some as a dead language, but within stygia it is still used buy the Fate witches who rules that kingdom. It is also used buy the male stygian wizards as a way to hide there magical tomes, and spell books written language from the preying eyes of foreign mages. Many want to learn the secrets of stygian magic, espicially stygian necromancy.

18. Dark speech or Dark tongue buy others - Dark Speech is a vile and evil language used buy extremely evil people and monsters that are of Chaos, mostly alienist will learn the language. This language while is evil good align people have been known to have learned it and either to delve into the secrets or find an understanding of chaos. This language is also a magical lanaguage but is also a spoken language used buy many chaos creatures. (I took the idea of the dark tongue from the lord of the rings)

Special Note - You may take any other languages as you like. The standard languages from the core rule book is fine just remember the rules here and see if it is exceptable and remember to see if it reguires a racial reguirment, any questions ask me plaese.
